Thank you René!

René Sieber officially retired at the end of April. He played a key role in the development of the Atlas of Switzerland. As project manager from 1994 to 2023, he brought the Atlas into the digital age. Thanks to his commitment, the first digital and interactive version of the Atlas was launched in 2000 – at that time already featuring 3D visualizations such as panoramas and block diagrams. This milestone was followed by three further successful versions under his leadership, with numerous new map types and innovative interactive tools (see the Portfolio section on our website).
Under René’s leadership, many new map topics were developed, and his innovative spirit ensured that the Atlas was continuously advanced. He brought the Atlas of Switzerland to a leading international position and built up a large network of data providers over the years. Previous interactive versions of the Atlas have received several national and international awards.
We sincerely thank René for his outstanding commitment over the past decades – and wish him all the best for this new stage of his life!
